days out

My 30th

First off, here’s my amazing Birthday cake by the lovely Cakes by Minnie.  I watched Moana recently and was blown away by it, so I was over the moon to have a friend conspire with my S.O. to arrange this surprise for me 😀 The attention to detail is incredible, and I’ve saved the figures from the top to cherish!

cakes1

Not ones to miss an excuse for cake, the girls at work came up trumps with a box of cupcakes and a bottle of Asti (to be taken home) which I’d never tried before!

Considering I’d only been there three weeks, I was also gifted with this wonderful haul of presents from work ❤

S.O. took me to The Deep in Hull for a Bank Holiday day out, as we were both at work in the days around my Birthday. The queue was absolutely massive but we only waited about 40 minutes. I’d visited a few years ago, and wanted to go again, but when they announced a new Lagoon feature, I wanted to wait until it was finished to visit. As you can see, it was worth it 😀

Images via The Deep Facebook

It’s absolutely incredible. Curved Glass that shows more the further you walk around rocks, anemone, plant life and tropical fish. It was awesome. They’ve homed a few Penguins which is worth seeing, and a few turtles. Even got ourselves a souvenir Fridge Magnet:

All in all, an incredible day. The only spoil on it was the amount of Facebook Parents videoing and photographing their kids all throughout. I’m not opposed to anyone taking snaps but when it’s 10 families in every room, in front of every tank, yourself getting elbowed/pushed out of the way and everyone just recording instead of enjoying the experience, it takes the mystery out of actually visiting, as they have a whole lot to offer. It’s not fair on folks who want to see the exhibits. Just sayin’.

I had a venture to Seaham last week to sort out a few Housing bits which took the best part of 10 minutes.
It would have been totally rude not to have a cheeky rummage in the Charity Shops and I managed to treat myself for the princely sum of under £3 😉

Ancient Myths Gift Shop is a wonderful shop in Seaham Town Centre that has a good all round range of your usual incense, candles, wax melts and crystals as well as fantastic ornaments, dreamcatchers, oil burners and everything from Angels and Buddha’s to Unicorns, Dragons and Fairies. I got this lovely little 4″ Angel candle for just under £2 and put her with the rest of my Collection. I think she likes her new home 😉

Afterwards, I had a rummage in Stray Aid a few doors along. I love this little Shop as it’s an exciting mix of a Junk Shop and an eccentric attic. Aesthetic all the way Baby!

There’s always something interesting to come home with and I make a point of going in every time. I picked up this gorgeous little trinket for 99p after (oddly enough) dreaming about something similar recently:

It’s a lovely mix of shells, wood, metal, sparklies and the Agate slice in the centre. Very Piratey!

What’s the best bargain you’ve found in a Charity Shop?

Beauty: Wig it, Rub it & Draw it Out ;)

I ordered my very first ‘proper’ wig recently after contemplating a hair change (Currently waist length and dyed black) and went with Lush Wigs after following them for a bit and celebrating the happy customer count ♥

I was undecided between Star Showers, Magenta Ombre and Cherry Lipgloss, and being a Wig Virgin, I figured all three would simultaneously go with my mermaid love and my blue eyes and cheeky face. Eventually, I went with Cherry Lipgloss and I’m not disappointed! It shines tomato red, deep scarlet and pillarbox red depending on the light. A Great multi faceted wig and it was delivered very quickly! It’s super soft, super natural and hangs to your waist, Mermaid Style!
Here I am with a homage Ursula Tee from Primark and a necklace from Cuba that holds my true voice ^.^

As a Valentine’s Day Present to myself, I bought myself a single rose, took a break from cackling & wandering in the woods to hang up me cloak and dust the cauldron off to knock up a few glitter massage bars:

massagebars

To make your own, melt 4 tablespoons of virgin coconut oil in a pan on low heat, add ten drops of lavender oil, a pinch of cinnamon, two rose petals, a teaspoon of pink glitter and a few drops of Argan oil. Pour into silicon moulds and pop it in the freezer. Super relaxing, super feel good and the Flat smelled like a Witchy Alchemists Lab ♥
The Bar’s don’t go far as coconut oil melts instantly with body heat, so don’t rub too hard and a full bar will do your whole body.

I got this fantastic Epoch Glacial Marine Mud Mask from Betty’s Beauty Bar a few weeks ago. (Request to join the Group on Facebook as she does a load of excellent Health & Beauty Products!) It is a bit more expensive than your standard cheap bulk order of Dead Sea Clay from Amazon (Around £20 a tube and it goes far) but it works ten times better. There’s significant results on blackheads, skin texture and condition and it dries in a super tie dye effect! You can actually see the little grease-spots pooling on the surface of the mask when it’s dried as it pulls all of the grease and dirt out of your skin. Satisfyingly effective!

Pullin’ me best Grinchy Face for the Lasses 😀

New adventures in Fashion Design

Hey guys! I’ve been super-busy these last few weeks with work, cranking out Wresting Gear after our bi-annual rush period, sorting out existing Shirt orders and generally having life happen, but I’ve been cracking on with my Fashion Design and released four new designs to the Etsy Store!

[★] Tie Dye Pink/Purple Cosmic Chaos Shirt

First off, my favourite from the whole new batch! This is probably the most challenging, time consuming and detailed Shirt I’ve produced so far and began life as a plain white blank before I did some Mad Science on it and took three days to make with my shifts at work. It was dyed Flamingo Pink before being scrunched in the “Spiral” position to be gently immersed in Intense Violet and then extensively washed and dried to make sure the colours didn’t run. It was inspired by some Space-themed graffiti I drew in biro a few years ago and features aliens, spaceships, ray guns, planets, stars and galaxies in two-layer vinyl prints. Available in the Etsy store in S, M, L, XL, XXL & 3XL.

[★] Rainbow Marijuana Leaf white vest top

This was quite fun to do, and mostly consists of salvagings from my scrap box. My Rainbow Hologram Hash Leaf shirt has gotten quite popular, and I wanted to do a Women’s similar version before experimenting with fabric markers. “Don’t touch the Moon Clover” is on the back in black. Available in the Etsy store in 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 & 18.

[★] Angel Fish Light Reactive Pleochroic black vest top

This was another “Let’s have a rummage in the Scraps box and see what we can come up with” design. I love how it turned out – the Angel Fish are Spectrum vinyl which reflects all hues of the rainbow in different angles of light. Features “Don’t touch the Moon Clover” is on the back in hot pink. Available in the Etsy store in 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 & 18.

[★] Rainbow space Planets tumble sparkle stars black vest top

An update on the Unisex Planets Shirt I used to offer. FeaturesPlanets in Red, Flouro Orange, Hot Pink, golden Yellow, Apple Green, Purple, Sky Blue and Royal blue and is adorned with Spectrim stars which reflect all of the hues of the rainbow in different angles of light. “Don’t touch the Moon Clover” is on the back in hot pink. Available in the Etsy store in 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 & 18.

M E R M A I D S !
I had a Splat day last week with Sue being away and took a break to adorn my sketchbook with some funky colours! I quite like the one above, and gave her opaque fins and suckers down the front of her tail to contrast with her rainbow hair and black eyes. She’s probably the most tropical one that’s jumped out of my head so far ^.^

A Selkie! She’s plainer, chunkier and much less colourful than the Mermaids but is more good-natured, practical and modest.

An Orca Mermaid! I had Killer Whales and polar icebergs on the brain when I started her.

This one got scarier as I started colouring her in.
She’s a Plague Mermaid – lives in the Dark and see’s nothing but the Future and can’t speak to tell it.
When I eventually (Ha-haaa!) finish the Romance Story I’ve been working on for three years, I’d like to illustrate each new Chapter with a full-page plate before the Story resumes.

E L I S S A B A T
I treated myself to an Elissabat a few weeks ago and only got the chance to unbox her properly last night. She is bloody gorgeous! It’s lovely that Monster High have released Dolls already in their ambitions rather than not quite getting there yet, plus I’ve been waiting a while for a Gothic-Lolita styled one 😉 If they release a Monster High Wrestler Doll, I’ll be over the Moon 😀

Shelf is getting a bit full again…no? 😉

Put together Twylla’s outdoor run this morning and had her out for a few hours in the Sun this afternoon whilst I drew for a few hours. Gonna take some tunes out next time and maybe have a spare Bunny-sitter so I don’t need to pack up everytime I need the loo – haha!

She doesn’t look impressed, Bless her!
Phew – That’s all for now!

Tie Dye

Donning my “Mad Science” blue labcoat – erractic and excited behaviour as standard – I had a first attempt at Tie-Dye yesterday with Dylon’s Flamingo Pink & Intense Violet, and was quite pleased with the result. Also found that bleaching a black shirt into a tie-dye pattern and attemting to dye the bleached bits DOES NOT WORK – will have to buy seperate black alongside another colour for these and good job I have a mighty stash of white Gidlan shirts that have been sitting around doing nothing until now. I used the “Spiral twist” for these and even though it’s not as prominent as it usually is, that was okay because it might have otherwise distracted from the front print I spent most of yesterday working on, when I wasn’t stirring my Cauldron in the Kitchen and cackling…

Super Insane happy proud of this one and made an XL for myself (Modelled below by Jennifer – poor lass, all she wants is a quiet night & a cuppa, and definately *NOT* me dragging her around and dressing her up!)
I nearly got emotional once they were both finished – who knew that a little lass from Wingate could make anything that looked *THIS* Good:

Both are up in the [ ETSY SHOP ] @ £14.99 each!
Can’t wait to experiment with Blues & greens and new silhouette plates for more Sea Life, but gotta drag my little cheeks over to Sukiwear for the rest of the evening on the new batch of orders 😉

Jellyfish, Butterflies & Weed

Three new designs up in the [ ETSY SHOP ]  today!

★ OOAK Purple Butterfly Wing Long Sleeve Shirt Size 10
Fitted Long-sleeve featuring front tribal flame & star design in metallic purple and hot pink. Back features metallic purple Butterfly wings with matching hot pink accents. This was one of a few shirts I designed for a New Age shop that opened locally but sadly had to close before we were able to ofer our designs there.

★ OOAK Black Jellyfish & mirror bubbles white Long Sleeve Shirt size 8
White Ladies Long-sleeve featuring a lone black Jellyfish surrounded by silver mirrored bubbles. I have a stash of long-sleeves (Either really Small or really Large) left over in the Stock Cupboard from back in the day when ASDA used to supply them, and I’m planning on using up the last few ones I have left from the old pool before I source a new Long Sleeve supplier.

★ Rainbow sparkly hologram Hash Leaf Shirt.
Available in the usual Unisex sizes (Small – 3XL) – Poor Jennifer was swamped in this one!

Messing around with Bleach, Fabric Dye & Acrylic paints tomorrow…

I . M A K E . M Y . O W N . T E N T A C L E S
Digging out the Happy Scrapbook yesterday, I sketched out and coloured in this doodle of a Mermaid with tentacles erupting from her chest, and am quite pleased with how it turned out.
I wanted a vivid contrast between the colours of the tentacles (Red for anger & passion, Orange for Excitement, Searching & Stimulation, Yellow for Cautiousness & Growth), and the colours of her Hair (Fuschia for Perception & Insight, Purple for Imagination & Intuition, Blue for Understanding & Acceptance and Black for Absorption)
The Monochrome Mermaid represents our sponge tendencies as we experience and learn life and our ultimate ‘Aloneness’ in doing so, her hair colours are all about fate and psychic & physical awareness & receptivity, how we learn and are affected by the things that happen to us. She is being both protected and silenced by the tentacles, which are mostly active ‘feeling’ colours rather than passive ‘receiving’ colours. Ever been severely confused about raging emotions and regretted something you said without thinking? Our own tentacles burst out at the least expected time to ‘Help’ us and are unique – made from our personal experiences on things.
Other than the ‘Deep’ stuff, I just thought it was a really cool idea 🙂

Channeling the Inner Alchemist/Witch/Teenage Goth and following [ THIS TUTORIAL ], I made these 100% organic babies with Coconut oil, Tea Tree Oil & Lime juice in the mould’s I bought months ago from LIDL. They are small enough (65mm) to each last three days for what I need them for, and there’s already been a dramatic improvement in skin condition and pain.
I can’t wait to try out different mixes with different oils and dried herbs & flowers for their different properties!
Cuppa, whilst we cackle over our Cauldron’s Ladies? 😉

Like an Endorphin-drunk chubby werewolf, the fortnight leading up to Valentine’s Day gives me a disgusting amount of the Squishy Moo-Moo Feelings & Soppiness, and it’s the same every year.
Gabrielle hasn’t been off the Laptop, Stitch’s fur is falling out in clumps from being squished too hard and there’s a general Moony-eyed happy haze floating around.
I’ve bought this Cupcake-themed Card from Home Bargains (60p ! ‘Cos you’re worth it!) for my Cupcake Wall in the Living Room, and even though I’ve toyed with sending one,  or even popping a Heart-Shaped note in the British Heart Foundation’s Window , I’ve kinda been sending Valentine’s tokens of appreciation all year to my two best Baking Guinea Pigs!
A tin of Valentine’s Cupcakes apiece seems to be a Grown-up and Yummy way forward ♥

WP_20140131_003

I’m still baking roughly once a week, and recently sent a batch of my Smartie cookies to a Friend’s Dad who’s just came out of Hospital, along with a pretty note. I love doing things like this for people who appreciate the thought 🙂

L I F T . U P . T H E . R E C I E V E R . I ‘ L L . M A K E . Y O U . A . B E L I E V E R

Part of my Modelling-Shoot the other week had a bit of a Rite-of-Passage about it.
I’ve been attending Church at least once a week and become a (Protestant) Born again Christian.
I’ve “Came out” to a few trusted friends, and they’ve been extremely supportive and I’ve connected with one or two of them on a deeper level, now that we’ve recognised each other properly, and the Stigma’s are discarded. Going to Church isn’t really something you discuss in casual conversation around here – especially in the Factories. It’s something else they can try to knock you down about (Or tie you to a Stake and burn you as a Witch for) *rolls eyes*
I’ve done it for a lot of reasons, namely because I already have good Christian morals and values and want to build upon them, but also because I need the discipline, the balance, something good and inspiring to believe in and most importantly, I need to be around good people. My congregation is mostly older ladies with a few men present, and I stick out like a NEW GIRL sore thumb in my black lace and tartan, but I’m still learning even though I’m worried that I don’t know enough yet. I enjoy listening to the Hymns and the Bible Extracts, and particularly when the President takes an Extract and applies it to real life and how we mirror it. The best bit though, is the Exchanges of Peace where everyone jumps up and shakes hands with each other and says “Peace be with you!”. It’s quite something to have an army of Nana’s descend upon you to kiss your cheek and squeeze your hand affectionately and to wish you well. I look forward to it all week. Just to be appreciated and acknowledged by Strangers. No Peace Offering needed.
I’ve longed to sit in the quiet sanctity of a holy building since my early Teens – probably when I first started realising that there was something terribly *wrong* in my Family – and take comfort in the fact that I was loved already by a mighty entity. Just to sit in the quiet and not be screamed at or psychologically attacked over every tiny achievement. Was never allowed to stray on a Sunday, had to get up for my Paper Route and to then assist in making the Sunday Lunch, running any errands and to then clean up.
I haven’t seen my paternal family much since October and it’s made a considerable difference to life – I’m happier, more secure in myself and confident again. I’m not battling their constant attempts to tear me down to their level, their ignorance, selfishness & disloyalty, and their aggressive Hyena mentalities. I appreciate silence more, seek reassurance in myself rather than others and don’t feel guilty about doing my own thing anymore. I want to be a good Garment designer to my customers and to look after them properly and to do the very best I can. I want to guard myself against evil, manipulative and selfish people whilst still believing the best in them. I want to be free to love and shower my friends with my affections and to not feel guilty or ‘Overload’ in doing so. There is so much Joy in being Alive, and no more reasons to be Afraid.

These past few weeks have been filled with a quiet thing with no shape or name.
It has a primordial glitter like celestial dust.
It smells like Hope and glows like Love.
And sounds like a Butterfly growing in the Dark.
